ER Partner Setup

When AfterHours Ally returns an Emergency result, it shows your configured ER partners with address, phone, and a direct maps link. This guide walks through adding and managing those partners.

🚨

Why this step is critical

An owner facing a genuine emergency has seconds to decide where to go. A configured partner with a single tap to maps dramatically reduces decision friction and time-to-care. Clinics without at least one configured partner will show a generic "seek emergency care" message — functional, but significantly less useful.

Steps

01

Navigate to ER Partners

Go to Dashboard → ER Partners. This page manages all emergency referral partners your clinic directs owners to when triage returns an Emergency result.

02

Add a partner clinic

Click "Add Partner". Fill in the clinic name, physical address, and phone number. These appear on the Emergency result screen exactly as entered — use the official name owners will recognize.

03

Add a Google Maps link

In the Maps URL field, paste the direct Google Maps URL for the partner clinic. Go to maps.google.com, search for the clinic, and copy the URL from the browser address bar. Owners tap this link to get turn-by-turn directions immediately from the result screen.

04

Set operating hours

Indicate whether the partner is 24/7 or has limited hours. If limited, enter their hours so owners see "Open now" vs "Verify hours before driving." This prevents owners arriving at a closed facility during a genuine emergency.

05

Add a brief note (optional)

Use the Notes field for context owners should know: "24h emergency only — no well-care," "Bird & exotic specialist available," or "Referral required for surgery." Keep it to one sentence.

06

Set display priority

If you have multiple ER partners, rank them by distance or preferred referral order. The highest-priority partner appears first on the result screen. You can add up to 5 partners — most clinics list 1–2.

07

Test the Emergency result flow

Open the owner portal (/owner/demo), walk through a triage selecting several Emergency-weight symptoms, and confirm the result screen shows your partner correctly with a working maps link.

Tips

  • Confirm partner details quarterly — ER clinic hours and phone numbers change more often than expected.
  • Call the ER partner to let them know you're routing after-hours referrals their way. A warm relationship helps when owners call saying "my vet's system sent me."
  • Include at least one 24/7 facility even if it's farther away. Owners in genuine emergencies need a guaranteed option.
  • If you serve both dogs and cats and an exotic-specialist ER is nearby, add them as a secondary partner and note the species scope.
